Brick & Mortar in a year - how about a month!
Posted by Karen Wilson on
As you know, DeAnn and I launched our online store, The Swanky Hanger Boutique, on October 5, 2019. It has been so exciting and busy. During our live broadcast, we told you all that we would have a brick and mortar store within a year. Well - we made it in under a month!!!
You never know which way your life will take you and how the best laid plans will shake you, but you just have to go with it. We are on a crazy train right now and it is so exciting. We found a space and it was available and on November 1, 2019, we signed a lease - less than a month of our launch. We worked hard painting and re-working the space to brand ourselves and on November 23, 2019, we opened our doors to the public.
I don't know that either of us really thought we would be starting a business at this stage in our lives, but it feels great. It's hard work - don't ever let anyone tell you it's easy. You sacrifice so much and so does your family. I have to admit that my home life isn't as organized as it used to be - house needs a good deep cleaning, laundry is stacked up, and we could use a good meal. It's just temporary - we are going through growing pains and eventually it will settle down and we will all be back in our groove again. I couldn't do this without the love and support of my family and I wouldn't be here without my sister-in-law, DeAnn. She is a driven as anyone I know and such a great business partner.
I have often been asked where do you find the time. Well, you just make the time. I think DeAnn and I are both surviving on a lot less sleep these days. For months now, we have been working on our business without a day off or a good night's sleep, but it's what we do and when you love what you do, it isn't work. We are tired, so tired, but motivated to keep pushing on.
We are shattering the goals we made for ourselves and I couldn't be more proud of what we have accomplished so far. This crazy train is still speeding down the track and we are hanging on and enjoying the ride.
Stay tuned - there's more to come....
